Having returned to Pre-School after our Christmas break I am pleased to welcome new children and families from the village and surrounding areas.  Children can attend the Pre-School from the age of two.  Depending on circumstances, some two year old children are funded from the term after their second birthday.  All children are funded from the term after they are three.  Funding is for fifteen hours per week. Children can attend when they are not funded.  Please contact the office for details.

The ‘Rising 5’ children are beginning to be introduced into school life by having our ‘P.E.’ session in the school hall on a Friday. This involves taking part in a variety of activities such as spacial awareness, music and movement and obstacle courses. We also meet the teachers in First School and spend time both in the Reception classroom as well as the school playground, mixing with the older children.

Although the weather is unpredictable, we continue to use the outdoor environment for play as much as possible to ensure the children have access to both environments.  Thankfully we have some spare wellington boots as the puddles are always so inviting.

If you have a child who is two years old or over and you would like to book a visit to the setting, please call the office.  We work a flexible system for booking and will cater for your individual needs where possible.  So many great friendships are built in Pre-School for both children and parents, which continue throughout their education and beyond.  Secure emotional attachments are recognised as an essential building block for education

November 2016

Everyone is back in full swing with half term fast approaching.

Our new children have settled well exploring resources available together with making new friends. Our ethos in the setting reflects strong social connections, developing friendships and showing care and concern for others. The older children enjoy helping the younger children and can often be seen sitting next to them at story time and helping them wash their hands.

Some of the children have walked to the conker trees to collect leaves and conkers, taking photos on the way. These have been used in the setting to look at nature, make leaf rubbings and explore the textures we found.

If you have a child aged two and above who would like to join us at our happy Pre-school please contact the office for more details and to arrange a visit. At Sturminster Marshall Pre-School we accept both two and three year old funding and most childcare vouchers.

Please support Bonfire Night at the Golf Club, a fundraising event for Sturminster Marshall First School and Pre-School.

If you have spare time to give please consider helping out at Pre-School. This maybe sewing, knitting, gardening, DIY. There are always jobs to do.

What a busy term it’s been at Sturminster Marshall Pre-School!  Having children attending between the ages of two and five years provides many opportunities to share and develop a caring nature within our setting.  The older children develop secure bonds with the younger children and enjoy including them in their play.  The younger children learn from the older children, with them demonstrating well developed routines and practices.

We are looking forward to our Pre-School outing this year and have chosen Adventure Wonderland as our venue. We hope as many families as possible from both the Pre-School and the Stay and Play session will join us.

The older children have been visiting the Reception class on a weekly basis as well as joining in with some playtimes.  Beginning transition early and covering as many aspects as possible, make the children feel more secure about their new environment for September. The Reception class continues to use the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, making the most of both the indoor and outdoor environment as we do at Pre-School.

As the end of term approaches the children are making the most of the Pre-School environment.  The seeds sown just a few weeks ago are growing well alongside the plants kindly donated by one of our parents.  The strawberries definitely seem a little behind this year compared to last.  Even the squirrels are not interested in them yet!  I wish I could say the same for our regularly filled bird feeders.  The children really enjoy watching out of the window for them!

If you have a child aged two and above who would like to join us at our happy Pre-school please contact the office for more details and to arrange a visit. We are taking bookings now for September. At Sturminster Marshall Pre-School we accept both two and three year old funding and most childcare vouchers.

We wish you all a very happy summer!
